Grateful your advice or experience please … I’ve done well out of this card in my first month, netting around 80,000 Avios on my first purchase including the sign-up bonus, but I’ve a rather large purchase to make (new car) and the dealer says I can use a non-Amex credit card to pay for it. The opportunity here is to generate 100,000+ Avios so hence my question and request for advice from anyone whose experiences this previously.
The trouble I’m facing is, the payment is 5 times my credit limit and it needs paid by the 31st August.
Clearly Barclaycard won’t up my limit to that level. I have the cash already so can ‘pre-load’ the account with the payment if Barclaycard were open to some form of single one-off payment. Alternatively, I can run 5 separate payments through, clearing my balance in between.
Has anyone experienced this and able to offer advice please ? Feels too good an opportunity to miss, so grateful any help or advice please ?

You can pay your balance off as soon as the transaction posts. Paying off by card is quickest.
So process it in 5 transactions paying it off each time as it posts and you’re golden.
I spent more than 5x my credit limit a few months ago no problem.
It’s more of a faff but I personally would only do the split payment method. Such a substantial overpay approach is likely to set off all sorts of money laundering-type alarm bells. Chances are it’ll get the account frozen and you’ll have to go through the motions to try and get it released.
Even if you only get to run through the limit two or three times before the dealer gets fed up and wants a final clearing payment, you will still have done extremely well.
@stevenhp1987 and @CarpalTravel, thanks both for your help, good points around banjaxing the card and advocacy for taking a split payment approach (which is where I’d got to personally so thank you for taking a few minutes to help and reply 👍🏻
