Hi, currently have a flex reservation at the the grantry curio London. have stayed there before and enjoyed it very much. However I’m considering cancelling that are booking the Lincoln plaza which has recently reopened. Has anyone stayed there (particularly those with status) since it has reopened? Or should stick with the familiar and stay at the gantry?
I’ve not stayed there, but I’m familiar with the area. It’s not exactly Canary Wharf, but more like the area next to the area next to Canary Wharf. It’s probably a nice enough hotel, and it’s only a 5-minute walk to the Canary Wharf Hilton, but that is also about a 5-minute walk to the central area/Reuters Plaza/Jubilee line area of Canary Wharf. That doesn’t seem like much, but I’ve had a quick look at Google Maps/Street View to see if it’s what you’re after.
I was looking at booking this a couple of days ago. The pool is currently closed for a refurb if that’s important to you and you’re going soon.
What advantage does LP have for you over the Gantry? When I lived in Manchester, the Gantry was my go-to London option for leisure stays. The high speed train to St Pancras from Stratford International takes 7 mins IIRC. Not to mention the various other connections at Stratford Station. Sadly the Westfield shopping centre has become a somewhat foreboding place, pacjed with unruly groups (gangs?) of youths who seem to revel in causing a noisy commotion to spook shoppers.
We are going into town in the evening (on the jubilee line) so location is about as good as each other really. Main reason for the move would be I have reserved the gantry at £190. If I change to the LP it would be £200 and trigger the amex offer of £50 back. + Getting to experience a new London Hilton that I havnt before.
But judging by a few peoples feedback it seems the LP isnt all that great, so instead I might just go and spend a tenner at a Hilton bar over the next week so that the gantry stay then triggers the amex offer.
I can assure you it won’t take much effort to spend that tenner in the Gantry. In fact you probably can’t get a drink for less than a tenner, by the time they add service…
Only stayed there once – service was very poor but the location is OK, especially for the high speed train and the DLR. Less so for the main station as you have to navigate the shopping mall and its BMX riding population.
