Forums Other Airport lounges Lounge swap for QR out of EDI….

  • 135 posts

For those flying in business out of EDI on QR who do not have BA status, they are being directed away from the BA lounge (One World obvs) to the Plaza (not so) Premium lounge which is a real drop in standard and quality. My daughter was refused entry on the afternoon QR flight yesterday and re-directed to PP, which has really fallen from grace in the last year or so. Unfortunately she didn’t ask why this was the case but I was on the same flight in May and had no problem getting into the BA lounge.

My flight in Nov is Qatar business redemption, but i have no QR status so no doubt will be advised to use the non premium PP.
I am BA Gold, so under OW Lounge guidelines I intend to hopefully be granted BA Lounge access……we will see

You need to check what the OW lounge database says.

OW guidelines can and do restrict access to certain airlines no matter your status and which airline it came from.

Being BA gold or silver doesn’t automatically mean access to a lounge BA uses for its own flights if you are flying on another airlines metal.

I don’t think that’s true BAFIS. I think choice of lounge within the Alliance is retained if one has status and provided one is flying on a flight operated and marketed by a Oneworld member.

With some flights and arrangements individual airlnes may have outside of the alliance, such as BA with EI or QF with Emirates, yeah depending on combinations of operating airline and selling airline you can be refused access to some or all lounges but that is a special case.

There is no reason for access to another OneWorld lounge to be refused if the flyer has OneWorld status and is flying on a Oneworld carrier on a OneWorld marketed flight in any class.

Gotta say I think Qatar’s offering is declining now and they had better be careful if they’re pulling tbis kind of $hit. As knowledgeable customers who know what they’re entitled to are going to start walking.
