Made booking using £200 travel credit – would cancelling it give me the credit?

Need to cancel a booking but unsure if the credit automatically gets it back?

I’ve recently made a hotel booking and I’m sure I read the t’s and c’a of the credit is that it is not returned to you should you cancel. Funny enough the £200 credit appeared on my account before the actual charge was still pending.

I don’t know if it’s the amex platinum sign-up travel credit or amex platinum business travel credit your are on about. If it’s the latter then it definitely is lost if you cancel. They do not give it back to re-use on another booking.
