The Sydney market doesn’t seem to be attracting a lot of hotel investment.
This is an interesting point: established hotels near the Opera House part of the harbour don’t seem to be receiving much love in terms of renovation (IC Sydney is an exception). But… the Capella opened quite recently, W Sydney in late 2023 and the Waldorf Astoria is being constructed and due to open in 2026/2027.
Big fan of the SYD IC however they are very far from perfect. I had a stay over new year cancelled without warning as apparently I had got too low a rate on their website and I should have known it was low!! Pretty disgusting but sadly the norm with IHG when they feel that way.
