I’m planning to buy 2 business class tickets using Avios for my honeymoon for the 23rd September 2024. I’d read here that I should call the US call centre at 00.00 on Wednesday 4th October this year to try and get the seats.
I just called the UK call centre to verify this with one of their agents and they said this no longer works as they have stopped UK people from being able to book via the US call centre. Is this correct? Is my only hope now trying to get them online at midnight instead?

You should probably have a look through the dedicated threads on this for the latest developments, experiences have varied recently. The “booking return with the 241” thread is very useful even if you’re not using a 241 as it contains a lot of info about calling v booking online.
I used the US call centre [number – appeared to be answered in India] to book a redemption this week, no problems.
I did this about a month ago and the US number was answered by the UK team. When I called to book the outbound there was no problem and the agent was happy to book the seats. I called back a couple of weeks later to book the inbound and again the call was answered by the UK team. The agent said that she wouldn’t be able to book the tickets as I am in the UK. When I pointed out that I had used the US number to book the outbound a couple of weeks ago she grudgingly agreed to book it. It is a shame that BA does not have a 24/7 UK call centre which UK customers could call at midnight to book reward seats. Seems unfair that UK customers are denied that opportunity, especially given that the UK is BA’s key customer market.
@s2bgrant 2 weeks ago I had to call the US number past midnight and as mentioned here got answered in India. She did asked if I was calling from the US. I just said yes and it was fine.
