I haven’t accrued enough Miles & More points this year to qualify for another year of Frequent Traveller. I don’t need to fly as much as I used to (once a month now) but really like the benefits that the status offers – lounge access in particular.
M&M has written to me to offer a year’s extension for 400 EUR.
I’m not sure as to whether to accept it. The new Austrian non-Schengen lounge at Vienna is terrible (which I’m happy to talk about separately 🙂 ) but having looked at lounge deals on sites like MSE and compared against airport food prices, I think that 400 EUR is probably pretty reasonable.
However, I’d like to see if I can cut them down a little. For 400 EUR I can take it or leave it, but for perhaps 300 EUR I’d take it like a shot.
What do others think – would M&M be up for a bit of negotiation?
That seems expensive, especially given the LH group lounges are nothing to shout home about. If your main concern is lounge access why don’t you get the PP Standard Plus membership, it’s on sale at £171 at the moment – 10 free visits, and I find the continental lounges generally nicer than UK ones. Certainly the Vienna Lounge is streets ahead of the lounge you mentioned. Obviously additional benefits like luggage & checkin aren’t factored in here, only you know the value of that.
