Hey all. Need some advice here. Travelling LHR to SYD in November on BA club suite with wife and 2 kids ( 3yo and 8 months)
I have a seat for everybody as we’re using a companion voucher. Obviously infant won’t be able to be seated but what is the best seating arrangement for parents to service the kids?
4 in a row? Or
2 x 2?
Any body with experience on this who can help?
Thanks
Two windows and the adjacent middles would be best I think.
The seats all face away from each other so you won’t see across the aisle unless you turn and the seats in front and behind you’d have to stand to see. Might work best with adults behind the children so each can look across and forward to a seat.
ETA definitely not 4 in a row as you can’t get across to the other aisle without going through the galley.
I agree that the easiest way to get to a child in CS is to sit behind them. Just be aware that when the seatbelt signs are on you won’t even be able to see the 3-year-old, let alone get to them if they become distressed or need anything. Rob wrote a bit ago about a stressful flight where there was severe turbulence and he couldn’t reach his daughter.
There’s always the possibility of an equipment change prior to departure so you can keep checking as the old CW is a lot easier with small children.
Hiya. We flew in CS twice in last 2yrs with our toddler. I wouldn’t agree that people say the two middle seats aren’t good. Agreed you can’t hold hands or help them but with the screen open between the seats you can lean forward and speak to your little one and we did that on take off and landing and it was fine. I would personally take 4 middle seats in 2 rows and alternate child adult adult child so you can easy get out to help the child in front/ behind.
As a family of 3, OH, myself and lap infant, I found the middle seats worked very well. Able to see and help out with the baby and if needed baby can be passed through the little window/screen.
Not looking forward to when my son turns 2 though. Can’t see how CS works with a very little toddler.
