Finally got my Barclays premier account open and my Barclays credit card account – took a while!
I can see I may be eligible for 25,000 Avios if I complete a full bank account switch within three months of opening Barclays avios rewards. When I logged in on the Barclays app, I can see an option to do a full bank switch where they will close my other bank account within seven days after moving all my direct debits.
I currently have an HSBC Premier account which I do not want to close ideally. I also have a Chase account ( I’m sure I can quickly add some direct debits to this account ) which I’m thinking of volunteering for the switch as I don’t mind too much if that gets closed… Do you think that will work? Thanks so much.Should be fine. What do the barclays T&Cs say?
If you close chase you can never open it again.
As you have 3 months, you could probably open an account with any random bank, get some DDs and switch it
Ask HSBC to open a second current account for you. Set up a couple of DDs for small charitable donations then switch that one. Simples.
As you have three months for the switch, you may find you get the 25k well inside that period without actually switching…
