Gutted, had 3 nights booked here about a week and a bit after the opening on points and just had a call from IHG saying that they will not be open and can we look at an alternative hotel to stay in. Disappointing as I had emails directly from the hotel the previous day on arrangements for car parking etc.
There is only 1 room left in Palma now, they managed to book this for me, but it’s a Mr&Mrs Smith, so no free breakfast for 2, 30E a day for parking vs. 9E and as the hotel is sold out, there’ll be no upgrades available.
Current offer from IHG is refund of first nights points…..particularly annoying as we are traveling out for my wife’s birthday.
I have a booking for 13/14 September ….. no email yet.
Hmmm …. just checked and no rooms until 22 September. Looks like I should await an email.
They actually called me on the phone to make the changes. The only other options in Palma are Mr&Mrs Smith hotels.

Just back from the Sant Francesc Hotel Singular in Palma where we stayed instead. Definitely a much better city centre location with a cool roof top pool bar, where they were constantly turning non-residents away from.
We got a car and went across to see the Kimpton and it clearly was not ready. It looked like a lovely property and the rooms that had balconies had large balconies. Couldn’t see around the back at the pool. However, location wise it is well outside Santa Ponca and not walkable to any large street of restaurants. If you stayed there you would be dependant on the hotel restaurant or there is one opposite as part of a club, which looked nice in fact.
One odd things is that in my posted stay the Mr & Mrs Smith has not post my F&B spend at all, but has posted a seperate line for $1400 odd spend, all as non-qualifying. Going to query this with IHG.
Quick update on my own booking for next week, which has been cancelled.
After pushback from me, the hotel has given me a free night voucher to use in 2023. However, this does nothing more than make me whole, because I booked for 45k points per night and the rate for next year is usually around 90k.
I also asked IHG separately for two elite night credits which I now won’t get and which may cost me a milestone reward. This was refused (‘technically impossible’) but I got 10k points as extra compensation.
Worth noting that, despite being Kimpton Inner Circle, the hotel cancelled my reservation without actually bothering to call me or in any other way contact me personally. All I got was the standard IHG cancellation email.
I got a couple of nights voucher from them also. Though looking at it now, I think I’d have preferred the 180k odd points instead, as the voucher ties me to that hotel. It does look nice, but it is quite a way outside Santa Ponca.
