Oneworld Ruby with 7 days till flight.
No free seat selection on business class Iberia booked via BA avios 2-4-1 booking.
I have 3 emails from Iberia confirming same 2 seats each time.
I’m very unhappy with them.

Does Oneworld Ruby get you free seven day advance seating on Iberia?
Seat selection using status is airline dependent as per the OW status benefit table.
Just because BA allows Bronze members to have seat selection at 7 days doesn’t mean IB has to.
What matters here is who operates the flight not who you booked with.
Regardless of status, I thought reward flight business class bookings on Iberia came with free seat selection as standard?
My recent flights (with a 2-4-1) certainly did.
I was able to select seats via MMB on the Iberia site, using the Iberia PNR accessed through Executive Club.
Avios flights with Iberia allow free seat selection on their APP.
@ffwd, what is the route? I find IB erratic in the extreme, I have several bookings for next year and there seem to be no rhyme or reason to which ones I can select seats free on via BA status. For example, on MAN-MAD-VGO I have been able to select seats, but on the return where VGO-MAN is a standalone booking, I cannot.
MAD-SCL
Sandsofess- keep an eye on your seats I had confirmed seats for over 6 months and they were cancelled by Iberia on the last week.
Yonasl- mine was an avios booking so no they don’t.

Thanks ffwd. We flew in the last fortnight (BCN>MAD>EZE, then SCL>MAD) in the seats we’d chosen, but good to know there’s a risk of being moved for future bookings.
Irrespective of status, on IB business class you can book seats at the same time as flight (or a month or two later if you’re booking a year out and plane still to be confirmed)
This applies to Avios bookings, both with and without 241, and doesn’t matter if you book via BA or with IB direct.
The OP actually confirms this in their later post saying they booked them 6 months out, so original post was very misleading, as is often the case only half the story.
My personal experience (most recently MEX-MAD-LHR in May this year) is that Avios business class bookings on Iberia do get free seat selection. That trip was booked via ba.com using an Amex 241, though I’ve previously booked direct with Iberia with the same result.
Hard to find anything on Iberia’s website that makes it clear though – other that it looks like the cheapest cash bookings don’t.
Interestingly it does say “Customers with tickets purchased with Avios (or equivalent in miles) in Economy or Blue fares may select a seat free of charge when making their booking.” at https://www.iberia.com/gb/seat-reservation/ but nothing about business class.
There was a delay in being able to select them after booking as early as possible (which wasn’t quite a year out as there was a delay in releasing seats for the early part of the summer timetable).
