As said above, when this card arrives do we need to open up a new account for him, or can the number just be added to his AmEx account that houses his Gold Card, as I could see a place on my account to add other cards.
Sorry for such a rookie question, but we are both a bit knew to this.
When he applied for the card he put his BAEC number on the application form, so I assume that will be sufficient for the Avios to go into it directly, and there is nothing to do there?
Gold card will accrue MR points which stay on account until you are ready to redeem them for say Virgin or Avios.
BAPP will accrue Avios only. And will deposit them into your OHs BAEC account.Gold card will accrue MR points which stay on account until you are ready to redeem them for say Virgin or Avios.

He only needs one Amex account. Needs to log in to his account then activate new card.

Thank you so much.
Just to add, you can only have 3 cards associated to a single Amex account. A few years back I had to have two logins to cover my 4 cards (I was an additional holder on two).

I have four cards in one account, 2x personal, 1x additional and 1x corporate.

I have 5 (3 main plus 2 supps) but have had more so 3/4 deffo isn’t the limit.
Never found a reason why some cards fail to add sometimes, find waiting a few days seems to bring success.
Totally impressed at all of you regarding your number of cards, feel like an armature.
In a few weeks we will try to get me a supplementary on it, as generally speaking I’m the one who does most of the spending.
When you get a new card, after you have activated it on-line, do you need to do a chip and pin transaction to get it going, or can you use it straight away on somewhere like amazon ?
I think we will need to bin off one of the Gold Cards – probably his as I seem to be irrationally attached to mine, and it keeps giving me an extra 2,500 MR’s now and again.

Those extra 2.5k are for spending £5k. Those aren’t random gifts from Amex! 🙂
Ha, Ha. and I thought they just liked me! Note to self – am probably buying too many scented candles and reed diffusers, must cut back.

I know what you mean about spending too much. I recently upgraded to Platinum, and thought it might be tight to spend the £10k in 6 months, but less than 6 weeks later I’ve already put over £5k on it, and on nothing out of the ordinary!
Also, you don’t need to wait to add a supplementary, just add once you get the card (not at the application stage), and you’ll get an extra 3k points for adding the first one.

Thanks for the link, I’ll get on to it soonish as OH definitely needs my help to reach the SUB. Unfortunately they have given him a weedy £3000 credit limit, probably due to them giving him an enormous limit on the amex gold. I think I have read on here that you can ring amex and ask to alter the amount of credit on the cards to make them more even. The alternative will be to pay it down twice a month rather than once I guess, but that’s a bit hit and miss, if one month you forget.

Good to know, it definitely wouldn’t when I was trying to. Was a PITA, so happy to be wrong now!

Yes, you can ask them to re-allocate the credit limit. I did it on chat, and think it was showing on the app within 24 hours. I think they said you can only do it once every 6 months, but you can specify exactly how much you want on each card, you don’t have to make it a 50:50 split.
