Paying Amex with Barclays avios debit card

Hi all

I just wondered if anyone has had any joy paying their Amex with their Barclay avios debit card.

Do you earn points with the Barclays debit card when you do this?

I think you’re getting confused between:

1) Barclays Premier banking (which provides periodic shipments of avios). The debit card does not give avios when you spend; and

2) Barclaycard avios card (which does provide avios when you spend, but which is a credit card so can’t be used to pay off your Amex)

If it sounds too good to be true…
