I would also add that the MAN-DOH on QR has a really nice suite – not the Q suite but very impressive, whereas the short DOH-MLE had much older (perfectly pleasant but not luxurious) business seats, so economy would be the way forward if points prices are expensive. Whichever way you do it, try to sit on the left side for the approach into MLE, this gives you the best chance of seeing the atolls from the air.

@nigelhamilton normally this would be a no-brainer, but with a 6 year old, 4 year old and to be 1 year old, the transfer logistics pose an issue and my wife mandates proper rear fecing car seats which are nigh-on-impossible from airports in many countries, with public transport often difficult to manage; so a simple stop over becomes quite the endeavour! Maldives is ideal as it plane or sea transfer, or countries with fluid public transport such as Singapore / Dubai, even Malta bus network was a win! We went through New Yorks public transport from JFK last year which was somewhat challenging but doable. As a travel lover, Im ardently still enacting my holidays with some challenging child size constraints; but I do love a challenge haha!
