Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Points from household account [if I want to keep trip a surprise]

  • 54 posts

A recent trip when I used points took some from my account and my husbands account as we have a household account. Is there a way of booking a flight using only my points – it’s a surprise trip and although he doesn’t always pay attention to this stuff I really don’t want him to notice.
Also is there a way to book the BA flight in his name linking it later to his exec account? Is this a phone BA job?

As long as you have the HHA, the avios will be taken pro-rata from each member. My OH wouldn’t notice, he hasn’t even noticed most of the bookings I’ve made for us for next year!

I think you may only be able to book flights for people in your HHA or on your Friends and Family list, and this will immediately show in their account. I’ve only ever made bookings for people in these categories though, so I’m not 100% sure.

One option is to open an Aer Lingus account, log on to avios.com with it and use ‘Combine My Avios’ to move your points across from BA. If it is a BA flight not using any sort of voucher you can book off avios.com.

Plan B, if the email address on his account is one you can access, would be to move HIS Avios into an avios.com account, so the ba.com booking comes off your points. However, the move to avios.com would trigger an email to him.

Thank you both!! I might just pay cash- is there still a way to avoid it appearing on his profile if I go the cash route?

You don’t need to put his BA number in when booking a revenue flight
