How about this for an idea on how to gain entry to a “full” lounge with PP…
Ask on the door “Can pay for entry, is there room?”. If there is room they’ll say yes, assuming that you’ll pay full whack.
If they say yes then bring out your PP and then they can’t claim it’s full and refuse you entry!
It’s a shame you have to go to these lengths to dream up ways to gain entry into a lounge, when in fact it should be far easier than this, since this is what the card has been advertised/sold to do 😔
Interesting idea, although I could see it going a bit like this:
“Sorry, Sir, we have different allocations for guests paying on the door and Priority Pass guests, we unfortunately do not have space for Priority Pass guests today”.
They always have an answer. A BA gold member in front me got refused entry to the Escape lounge at MAN because he was flying in economy. I think the staff must be trained by the same people as security. I have to say he took it really well and didn’t argue! Though that might be because the offerings aren’t worth arguing for …

I’d just send BA the bill for a nice snack meal in the terminal then. After all, they do say in their advertising etc. ClubE gives a lounge. After all, what other differentiators are there for Europe Club vs Y. Not many.
He wasn’t in CE though, he was trying to get in through status, though I thought it would have counted under BA’s arrangement at MAN.
I’ve never had an issue so far, what I do is:
“Hi, my flight is at X, do you have space?”
Yes…
“Perfect, here’s my priority pass and boarding pass”
Thank you sir, one moment…
If its blatantly empty, I dont bother asking

This is what I imagined might happen, though to be fair they could just make up a load of codswallop afterwards as has been suggested.
“Sorry, it might seem like we have space but we’re expecting a lot of business class travellers soon”
This is pretty much the default response to any pass holder in MAN
Has there been any noticeable change in access to UK lounges with PP in the last six months or is it still as bad as ever?
I was in Plaza Premium in Edinburgh yesterday, around 4pm, and there were about 10 people in – full capacity is probably 100. This is Amex Plat and not Priority Pass of course.
My wife had no trouble getting into PP T2 the week before Christmas either.

I don’t travel through Edinburgh frequently. How different is that to previously?
Sorry – did I miss the HFP Hogmanay extravaganza?
Id expect theres less PP demand in winter, I got the Aspire lounge on a PP at EDI on the 1st and also got into the one in LTN a couple of weeks ago.

That was busy then, I’m used to being the only person/group or maybe two others when frequenting that lounge.
The room immediately over to the left on entry now being open to everyone rather than saved for airline passengers as they’ve yet to sign any contracts (as at mid December).
I see On The Beach are advertising on TV again with free lounge access for families with fat children, oh joy!

We got into Aspire next to it no problem with PP back in November
