Haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere, and doesn’t come up on a quick google search. Was in my CoT app earlier, a fairly rare occurrence, and randomly tapped on the “Plans” link.
There’s a new Pro level plan, £299pa, included priority pass and Radisson VIP membership. Oh, and a metal card…
Anyone going to do it?
I have been on the free card for years because the only difference between them was the ability to earn Avios and I wasn’t interested in paying £99 pa for that. I can’t see this option available anymore in my app but the Pro Plan has added £200 pa for this Avios functionality, Radisson VIP and lounge access.
Sadly, other than the headlines I can’t find any information on what Radisson VIP entails or which lounge provider this is. I think it’s very new and maybe released too early on the app?
Would I be interested? It’s a deductable expense and I’d consider it for the lounge access as it is one card I carry permanently unlike some of the others that enjoy a 2yr fallow period. Devil will be in the detail.
I am lunching with them next week to learn more!

I figured it must be pretty new, as would have expected to have seen a story about it here.
I spoke to COT today via live chat. The unlimited priority pass is only for the main account holder, if you have any additional card holders like myself and my wife are both directors, the second holder would need to use up the 2x available guest passes, any additional passes are £20 each.
This link on the COT website just outlines the benefits of Radisson VIP, not sure if there is anything extra.

Although as it uses $ as a currency and links to a US page of the Radisson website, possibly not relevant for the UK market?
CoT Pro will roll out to the public in the next couple of weeks.
Benefits are, as noted, Radisson VIP, travel insurance and a Priority Pass (which I believe includes restaurants). It’s therefore a simple decision – given the bonus will be the same as the standard Avios card – on whether you value Radisson VIP, the insurance and Priority Pass at £200.
They are very keen to expand the list of benefits but there’s nothing else lined up for the short term.
If Barclaycard can do 1.5 Avios per pound on a consumer card, why can’t CoT do it on a commercial, as they get higher fees?
Barclaycard is losing eight figures a year on those cards, we believe. It’s a loss leader to match Amex and bring younger people into the Barclays eco-system.
CoT on the other hand is worth £1 billion now and took no major external investment to get there ….
(They do have quite a high cost base though. They are sending 1 million direct mailshots per month for example, usually to people who’ve had them before and ignored them. If you work for them, you get £500 commission per sign-up you make on their FREE card, not the Avios card. Lots of people making a very nice income down in Brighton.)
What IS a question, and indeed one we discussed over lunch yesterday, is why no-one else is piling in to loyalty corporate cards because, as you say, there are no interchange caps.
Currently have the £99 business card and can see the new Pro plan but no mention of any insurance you mentioned in your post? Is this definite and if so do you know what it is?

Current referral offer on my card is £75 each. If CoT didn’t pay the other party anything, but paid me £500, I would get them a lot of business. I’m sure others would too.

Same. I’d take it for my Ltds if the signup incentive were right…but then I’d only be farming the signup bonuses and/or doing manufactured spend…actually maybe they’ve got it right 🙂
I currently just use my £99/year CoT Business card for purchases where Amex is not accepted. It was worth the £99/year for the 1 Avios per £.
I’ve just had the email from CoT saying that I must decide by 11 March whether to upgrade to Pro for £299/year (with reduction to £199 for first year) or revert to the free card with no Avios earning potential.
In my mind it’s not even worth the £199 / year as I get the added benefits (plus more) already by having the Amex Platinum business card.
Are there any other business non-Amex cards that earn just airmiles without the ridiculous fee for benefits that are of no use to an Amex card holders? Or other methods that still work for cross-charging to Amex?
It wouldn’t be so bad if they could match the 1.5 miles per £ on the personal Barclaycard.
ThksReceived an email yesterday telling me that my £99 annual fee will increase to £299 (first year will only cost £199) from 11 March. I have to opt out of the tripling of the annual fee or else it’ll automatically apply.
There is nothing in the PRO membership that interests me so I’ve downgraded to the free card. The Avios were handy but I’d have to spend a lot more on CoT to justify paying £299 a year for the privilege of transferring my points over.
I think I’ll be closing my CoT account in the coming year.

Probably because they have to discourage personal spending?
I haven’t had this email – only one saying the they’re changing some of the general terms and conditions of the card – no mention about having to change to the new pro from old pro

It’s a trial, apparently. They are picking people at random to get this ‘offer’ and what happens next will depend on how many take Pro.

The sign-up now, using the link from the review page for the card, only lists an option of free or £299. And it appears the offer is only valid if you spend the £299 unfortunately.
