Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Qatar Airways – bad ground experience in Paris CDG

  • 3 posts

    Good afternoon,

I would like some opinions to see if I should be entitled to some Avios compensation for the situation described below:

A few weeks ago I travelled to Paris via Eurostar to embark on my first ever long haul flight in Business class to Doha. I arrived at CDC 3 hours before the flight departure time. However, there were no agents available for the QR bag drop and checkin. I ended up waiting 90 minutes with other passengers before I could receive my boarding pass and go through the immigration. After immigration we were told that the Qatar Airways lounge was closed and was given no explanation or alternatives, hence we just went through security and ended up at McDonalds… As the lounge is before security we could not come back later and check if it had reopened. However, other passengers later confirmed they entered the lounge.

I am rather annoyed because I chose Paris CDC to experience one of Qatar’s premium First/Business lounges and couldn’t find Avios availability from Heathrow. In hindsight I would’ve had a better experience going to Birmingham or Manchester end experiencing whatever sub-par lounges are available there…

You would certainly get some avios from BA for this, however I think you’ll just have to try your luck with QR. The bag drop agents might not even be employed by them, so they might say that’s not their responsibility.

Assuming you mean Paris CDG, there have been a few posts recently about poor experiences!

QR does not care. Strong hard product and very uncaring Customer service.
