Qatar Q2 ‘double price’ cancel and rebook risk .…

Hi all

So, I’m planning a long-haul trip on Qatar in business and have enough Avios for the normal redemption, but also double if the only option is Q2. Flights open up in four weeks.

Question: has anybody successfully booked a Q2 seat, then later on seen that a normal reward seat had been released, cancelled the Q2 to get the Avios returned and booked the normal seat at half the Avios? Must be a risk there re timing, and finding the normal seat has been taken while you go through the process? I don’t have enough Avios to book then cancel, would have to cancel first.

We just booked a Qatar redemption and recently they’ve been really good at releasing standard awards on release day. Just look at the release pattern for your redemption and it should
Give you a good idea of what’s released and when.

By checking what seats are released each day?

Yep in the run up of your dates being released, just check every day what seats are available and it should give you an idea of what will be released on the day you want.
