It’s early and I’m not very caffeinated yet but I really can’t understand the QR baggage allowance.
We have reward business class flights booked to Sydney.
It says 40kgs and a picture of one suitcase.
For flights to/from Africa and Americas it shows 2 pieces 32 kgs each.
Is my 40kgs a total weight so I can have a 25 kg and a 15 kg for example?
It also talks about status having additional allowances. I have no status with QR but am BA silver. Does this count for anything ?
From the Qatar website
For routes where the baggage allowance is displayed by weight (flying from/to destinations other than Africa & the Americas), there is no limit on the number of pieces that can be checked in as long as the weight allowance for the total number of pieces is not exceeded. However, limitations may apply based on aircraft carrying capacity.
Thanks Dave . I couldn’t see that, cheers for your help.
I’m very much hoping they allow pooled luggage allowance. We’re flying to Auckland later in the year (and back from Sydney). We usually have 3 x 23kg suitcases between the two of us, which is fine on BA but their luggage policy is different to Qatar.
For ease of transport (I have some mobility issues) I really don’t want to spread that across 4 suitcases instead to make us both within our individual limits, as we will also have two hand luggage cases for all of my medical equipment (can’t go in the hold as can’t risk baggage being delayed/lost).
Normally it would be 3 hold suitcases and one hand luggage case when travelling business on BA, but that’s because the hand luggage sizes are more generous on BA, and I’ve got the perfect sized hand luggage case specifically for that purpose, and can get all my medical equipment in the one case, then one of us has a rucksack. Qatar hand luggage sizing is a bit weird and doesn’t seem standard compared to any other airline, but it does mean we’re going to need 2 hand luggage cases and not one.
