As a current Diamond Elite, I signed up to ambassador in December. I’ve stayed one cash night at Kimpton and have a cash IC Porto lined up in a few days. This should hit the 2 nights by end of Jan to trigger the 20k points.
If I had used the free weekend night voucher I’m aware the terms specifically state that meets the requirements for 2 nights to trigger the 20k points.
What about 2x 100% points bookings by end of Jan instead? I assume they are not qualifying for the purpose of staying 2 nights to trigger the bonus, or would they be? I assume they are certainly not elite nights for the purpose of milestone rewards or re qualifying for status? Would a restaurant spend over 30$ on a 100% points reward night change anything?
Does anyone know what the bar credit is as part of ambassador at the IC Porto? Plan to use my welcome benefit on free breakfast – any reviews?
I just made a reward booking during the 20% off window. 123€ cash rate at CP Zurich for 20k points. Any thoughts? Have seen valuations of IHG points lower than this but also some reward examples during this offer, giving better value.
On such reward nights, I assume no points are earnt? Would you still earn based on restaurant spend though?
Thanks!
Points bookings do not count as qualifying stays for this particular points offer offer and nor does spending $30 a day in the bar make it qualifying.
Points + cash bookings also don’t qualify.
Both types of stay do count as qualifying nights for status & mileage rewards.
Thanks! Also, on the topic of IHG…really impressed with the new Kimpton Mallorca.
You will typically earn points on restaurant/bar spend on reward nights, if it’s charged to your room. IHG IT isn’t great, so points don’t always come through (and I’ve never spent enough to be worth chasing up) but points usually come through.
I’d happily pay 20k points rather than 120 euros in cash (IHG regularly sells points for less than that).

I agree with this, but have just read the T&Cs which say that it must be a qualifying rate with a minimum spend of $30 per night… A qualifying rate is clearly defined as including points nights so it SHOULD include it. But it doesn’t! Life is too short to kick up too much fuss over 20k points. Maybe…
