Forums Payment cards Virgin Atlantic Re-Applying for Virgin Plus Mastercard

  • 8 posts

Hi all. Back when the Virgin Mastercard was launched in 2018 I applied for the Virgin Plus Mastercard and I had it for three consecutive years until I closed the account.
I have decided I want to take out the card again but when I check my eligibility it says i’m not eligible. There’s nothing on my credit file that would really justify this so I believe it is because I have previously had the card, I understand this can throw up an instant decline.
So my question is, has anyone else had a similar issue and successfully managed to take out the card again? If so, any suggestions on how to do this?

That eligibility checking tool is useless. They deliberately discourage high earners who are likely to payoff the outstanding every month.

As long as its over six months since you cancelled, you are eligible to reapply.

However, in general Barclays and Virgin take a dimmer view of allowing back someone who previously got a bonus than Amex does.
