We have a flight that ba have cancelled on 29th may and they have moved us onto a flight 3 hours later.
(Which I haven’t accepted)
This means we won’t make a connecting flight with the connection which is on a different airline.
I’ve asked for a re route with a non one world airline, however they point blank refuse as I booked with avios, saying it isn’t possible.
Can I keep pushing for the flight to be moved, or are they correct leaving us without a possibility of making our connection (they suggested I should fly the night before and wait 18 hours in the airport with a 6 year old, it’s the best they can do.!)
Is there any rights I have that I can throw at them ??
Thanks,
Martin
Please can you also say what’s the route?
The reality is that you won’t get re-routed on a non-OW airline. If the BA offered option is not working for you, you can buy the new ticket yourself and try to claim it post-flight. You will have to demonstrate that your request is reasonable which it seems it is.
@ChrisC the passenger doesn’t need to have it all on one ticket (it does help) and does not have to accept BA’s offer of a re-route if it doesn’t work for their travel plans and it can demonstrate that the request was reasonable.
However, all this will likely involve going to MCOL.
Meta if the “connection” and it’s not clear if this is actually a connection or not is on a separate booking on a separate airline then any rebooking of that is not down to BA.
People toss words like “connection” around but in many cases they don’t have one because it’s on two separate bookings.
Hence asking @mecrash the question.
Getting a little fed up of people offering advice with such certainty when ALL the circumstances of the bookings aren’t clear.
Agree, @ChrisC. It’s the first question to ask the poster. @meta you are quite likely right about the end outcome. But there’s just a chance BA is responsible for the connecting flight as well if it’s on the same ticket. Which would make a solid solution easier.
IMV there is no way the passenger should be forced to leave earlier just to assist BA who have made a commercial decision suiting themselves to cancel his flight. For many passengers it’s simply impossible to depart earlier.
apologies.
thought i`d said the connection was with another airline partner.
our connection is with TK, Istanbul to Baku and return.
our outbound is with BA to Istanbul and return from Istanbul is with BA.
To me it just seems weird BA can throw you on the scrap heap when its their fault we can
t make the Baku flight,
if BA flew Baku when we booked it we would have used BA to go straight through or direct.
We had no alternative to use a star alliance airline to get to Baku.
Just before the pandemic in the feb half term of 2020 (storm Dennis i believe) Ba re routed us on TK on the same day without much issue or argument.
so clearly must have a deal of some kind as was ticketed at terminal 5 and shows in MMB as it being a TK flight.
Currently we`ll be a day earlier and 12 hours in another airport with various restrictions and tests with a 6 year old which seems a bit harsh if i take BAs options of OW departures
So what I am reading from that is that your Istanbul – Baku flights are on a separate tickets.
Is that correct? Please just answer yes or no.
Based on that being correct your contract with BA is to get you to IST. They aren’t responsible for your separately booked flight to Baku on TK. On separate tickets you simply don’t have a connection.
In the same vein if your return TK from Baku to IST is delayed and you missed your BA flight then TK aren’t responsible to get you to LHR because your contract with them is to get you to IST.
Your previous trip to Baku appear to be on one BA ticket which is why BA had to rebook you because Baku was your BA ticketed destination.
