Recommendations – hotel in Houston and Dallas

Hi all
I am looking for any recommendations for hotels in Dallas and Houston, we are going in 6 weeks and just looking for some good options.

We are Amex Platinum(so Marriott Hilton etc mid tier) and ihg platinum. Happy to consider using Emyr @ bon vivant if I know what hotel.

How long in Dallas and what do you want to do?

We went to see Dealey Plaza, the grassy knoll, and the 6th Floor Museum – all of which you can see from the rooftop bar at the Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Downtown/Reunion District. Nothing special but there several bars and restaurants within walking distance and parking right next door.

Must have been on a bit of a Marriott push but we stayed in one near the Johnson Space Center too – even less special but convenient for for the Space Center and fine for a road trip.

We are only there for a couple of nights in Dallas over the thanksgiving holidays.

We have just heard that the places around Dallas aren’t great and trying to find the best area to stay in.

@chrisw1983 – there are some great hotels in austin if thats within reach. Folks do say Dallas is nothing special. I believe hfp has reviewed some hotels in austin.

Thanks yes we are in Austin as well but have booked a mr and ms smith hotel. The line which I heard v good things about. The big problem was hotels in Dallas and Houston as they are soo big and have heard not great downtown once work is over.
