I just wanted some clarification on this matter.
My friend holds an Amex Nectar card, but is interested in getting a Gold/Platinum card. Would he still get a referral bonus? Previously, I thought it would be the case, but seemingly, reading online, this is no longer the situation.
You would get a referral bonus if they applied via your link and got accepted. They could get a SUB on the Platinum (or BAPP), but not on the Gold MR card (or the free BA card). There’s a great HFP article on sign-up strategies and eligibility.
Bear in mind the minimum income requirements and Amex having got a bit picky about acceptance in the past couple of years.
