I recently noticed some attempted fraudulent activity on my account, which amex dealt with promptly. However it resulted in new cards being issued and having to setup a new online account (unable to link new cards to old account). I am midway through a retention offer (3k spend in 3 months) and have been assured that this wont be affected, nor will my existing earned avios. My new account clearly shows zero spend at the moment – Has anyone any experience of this happening and if things resolved correctly?
The trackers don’t work sometimes even if there’s no change of cards, but they do credit once you have achieved the spend target.
As you have got it confirmed with Amex CS, you’ll be able to follow up if you don’t get it. There’s nothing else you can do realistically now.
As a follow up, changing to a new account due to Fraud was almost(!) seamless. I did have to follow up (on chat) regarding the retention offer as that didn’t carry across, but was immediately credited with the bonus when they manually checked new and old accounts.
