Retention offer terms and conditions

I called Amex last night to cancel my BAPP to get a pro-rata refund before Oct 1st and they gave me a retention offer of 5k Avios for a £1k spend. They said it would be active today.

Should it appear in the Amex app like the regular offers you save to your card? I would like to see the terms and conditions so that I don’t fall foul with, say, a £1k gift card purchase.

Nothing shows on your account, the points will just post when you meet the requirement. If you ask Amex they will likely say that gift cards are excluded, as they are on all statement credit offers, but in practice rarely or never are excluded.
