2 quick questions please. I’ve a one way LCY to PMI booking coming up, which cost 11,750 Avios and 50p (no other choice using the Barclays voucher). There is now LGW-PMI Club reward availability on the same day which is more preferable. I’m happy to pay the £35 change fee if I have to.
But, if I cancel this online and re-book, are cancellations still only costing 50p in this case, and not the usual £35? Do the Barclays vouchers re-appear immediately for re-use? Thanks!
The “refund quote” implies it will just cost me 50p to cancel – so the question is, if I do this will the Barclays voucher reappear for immediate re-use (flight is in the coming week)? I assume if I call to change or cancel and re-book, the regular £35 fee will be due.
The Barclays voucher usually takes 3-5 mins to arrive back. However I have had a wait of over a day on occasion and 12 days on another occasion. In each delayed case, BA Gold line could do nothing to help in terms of forcing it back or indeed holding seats in principle for me.
Be careful!
That answers that then – voucher expires end of this month so won’t run the risk, I’ll stick with LCY. Thanks!
As an aside – just looking at another reward booking in economy that cost 2900 Avios and £45. To cancel that is also only a 50p charge – I thought these 50p cancellations only applied to bookings where you’d only paid 50p cash to start with, but evidently not? I assume this is a long standing IT glitch rather than a policy change – is it only for short haul? EDIT: Seems so – looking at a couple of Club World and First reward bookings they propose the standard £35pp to cancel.

Thanks Frogge. In the end, 2 separate short haul bookings cancelled for 50p each (one with a 50p cash element and the other £45). Avios returned immediately (as normal) and in this case as a data point the Barclays voucher also available for re-use immediately. Have decided to let this voucher expire though, having found a £54 economy LGW departure with F lounge access as gold – using the voucher to pay £118 (valuing Avios at 1p), so an extra £64 just didn’t seem worth it for Club. And certainly not for same Avios price ex-LCY with no lounge at all and no blocked seat. It was a different story when making the original booking but economy prices have softened since.
