Hi all – first post for me on the new forum.
We are building up a bit of a stash of Virgin points and vouchers so thinking about a future redemption. Cuba is of interest but I notice that it’s currently impossible to redeem VS points for flights there. Not a case of no availability, but the website specifically says “it’s not possible to use points for flights to this destination at present”.
Does anyone know if there’s something specific about this route which means you can (never?) redeem?
This message seems to apply on routes operated by codeshare partners not on VS itself, but these are VS-operated flights so not sure why it’s not possible – any advice please?
From memory, isn’t it something to do with Virgin using Deltas booking system and there being an embargo on US citizens booking a flight only trip to Cuba?
I could’ve made that all up. Regardless, it’s been like that for years now – I can’t see it changing. Sorry
Thanks – I did wonder if it could have had something to do with the US embargo, couldn’t think what – but hadn’t thought of the Delta connection.
Back to the drawing board it is!
