I’m pretty sure this is within the rules. They have a lot of leeway with it anyway, so just point out that there are now no flights back from UVF so you need to find another option.
Excellent, thanks for your swift reply!
Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada or Miami seem to be the most suitable for when we want to fly back!

Got my flight booked, sadly they currently only have economy on the way back from Grenada… will keep an eye out for PE…
What confused me more is the phone agent used half my voucher.. so I have half left? (of course I think about this when I’ve hung up…doh!)
Do I ring back and ask for them to retrospectively use the other half of the voucher on the flight out that i’ve already booked. Because they made the mess…
Did you not use the voucher on the outbound? I assumed you had used it as a companion voucher to UVF and would therefore be using the other half for the return?
I discussed with the phone agent on the outbound how I needed to use it and they said just quote it on the return…(But difficult as that return journey I was planning on doesn’t exist…)
I just spent some time on the phone with an agent and they seemed bamboozled by me trying to go back and apply it.. do I just try someone else? 😂
It’s worth trying but it sounds like you needed someone better informed initially! They should have booked the outbound for you with half the voucher (if using as a 241), then applied the other half when you booked the inbound. You’ve really been messed around with these bookings!
I had something similar when I booked MCO-MAN for 3 of us, agent used the voucher as a 241 when it would have been much better value to upgrade 2 of us instead. I was too inexperienced to realise at the time but it resulted in me wasting half that voucher!
Yeah when I booked the outbound it was a mess, the first person booked me to the wrong island after I confirmed several times St Lucia.. the second person I called didn’t understand what I was trying to do so hung up.. the third person took 5 mins and sorted it… Problem is it looks like half a voucher may go to waste..
Although when I rang back just now to get options they said I could go from PE to UC on the journey out as that had availability without any cost except taxes… Which weren’t that terrible.
The journey back only has economy availability currently, I don’t know whether to take the plunge and go UC so I don’t lose half the voucher OR wait it out and see if more PE seats appear for my journey back to upgrade to using half the voucher. Gaaaaaaah
As I understand it you can upgrade with points, so if any PE availability appeared you could do that anyway, as long as you have enough points.
I would personally upgrade your UVF seats to UC and enjoy the outbound and the Clubhouse (I’ve not been in it but it’s well-regarded here). We paid $173 each to upgrade to UC from NAS with the voucher which I think was great value (and saved 80k points)- if someone offered you a cash upgrade at that price you’d bite their hand off!
Yeah as it stands no availability coming home in any other class so think I will take the UC upgrade and see what happens over the coming months for upgrading to PE on the inbound, thanks
Is it just you travelling, I can’t recall if you said?!
Ah right – in that case I think you’d only be able to use the other half of your voucher as a 241, not for an upgrade. My understanding of the voucher is that it can be a 241 for 2 people, return, OR an upgrade both ways for one person, OR an upgrade, one way, for 2 people. But maybe the agents have even more flexibility than I realised?!
Who knows, I think the agents are confused as us sometimes! So far I’ve used half a voucher to reduce the cost of the flight back to 20k points, so I suppose upgrading on the way out makes sense…
I don’t think you’ll be able to though, as you’ve used it as a 241 on the inbound as far as I can tell. So I think the only way to use it on the outbound would be to get half your points back, if VS will do this.
This was what I was saying on the phone earlier to the agent but she said she couldn’t do that.. unless I cancelled everything and took on cancellation fees etc, I feel like I need to speak to someone at virgin who really knows what they are doing, a real mess has been made of it, I just want them to retrospectively apply it to the flight to give half my points back on the outbound
It would be really helpful to get @davefl’s take on this as he has so much practical experience with VS, don’t think there’s a way to summon him though!
