Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Reward ticket availability linked to schedule changes?

  • 23 posts

I’m looking to get rewards tickets in Club (First ideally, but I’m realistic) to use an AmEx voucher to go to LAX in mid-October. There’s loads of availability from the 28th October onwards but very little before that. I’m wondering if that is to do with when their schedules change? Does anyone have any insight as to why there is what looks like a clear cut off where it switches to loads of availability?

I hope and expect availability to open up as we move closer towards the date, and have alerts set up.

Might be more to do with school holidays in mid-late October, I wouldn’t expect seats to open up on dates that BA think they might sell for cash.

School holidays in London are actually when the availability seems to start! The availability starts on Monday 28th (which is the first day of half term) and is solid from then on.

I’m looking to fly 2 weeks before that so not around school holidays at all. I did a similar trip last year and the availability on points increased dramatically in July and August (for October travel) so hoping the same thing will happen.

Other parts of UK though will have school holidays right when you’re looking (e.g., our son is off week of 14 October and we’re using reward flights out to SIN and back from KUL).

That said, not sure if this explains availability that you’re seeing.

They’re all different, ours here tend to start around the 20th. I think the Americans have an autumn holiday in late October as well. No 241?
