@lesscleverandrew Loads of places to see on the way, Carlsbad, Delmar, and other towns. Use Google maps and turn off motorways to see 3 alternative routes.
The difference is 1.30 hours to nearly 6 hours though if you don’t use the interstate. I’d plan a couple of days to do it the much nicer and slower way.
