    I booked business class MAD-EZE on Iberia using avios on the BA website. However to reserve a seat the BA manage my booking takes you to the IB site which won’t allow seat booking .
    Has anyone had this issue and is there a work around? Call Iberia customer service?

    IME its way earlier than that. I do this via IB. Try and search your email for IB booking code and use that to go into booking on IB site. Alternatively try airmaroc. Ive bought flights 355 days out and by day 340 approx Ive been able to secure J seat I want for free.

    Seconded for Royal Air Maroc, which will take your BA booking reference.

    Depends on the season, as IB don’t always release aircraft type allocation immediately.

    In my experience, the basics are clear, seat allocation via IB website is free and available to all. In my experience, they’re available to book at any time around the 9-11 month time frame so if you’ve booked a year ahead, I’m not surprise you have an issue.

    No real solution except keep checking.

    Similar issue with a recently booked Iberia flight to Tokyo. Had already checked via Royal Air Maroc, but also can’t access seats on there, so I assume the seating map just hasn’t been released yet.

    Wait a month , then check. I booked Mad-Uio and found same issue as you. Waited a month , then was able to book. Once booked , keep an eye on it as Iberia are reported to flip you out of your chosen seats !

    Is the same for husband and son flying to EZE in business I’m in premium economy and booked direct with Iberia and managed to reserve a seat. Did you book online or over the phone? I did ours over the phones after some issues so maybe that’s it?

    I did call center at midnight yes, but Twitter account said it’ll open at 6 months so still some time to that in theory.

    Im on this flight this coming Saturday. Reports above of being kicked out of seat before flight but 10x + times now and no such issue. Hopefully it stays that way as I pick my preferred 5L.

    Must be something with the Tokyo flights then – they can only be serviced by their A350s which share the same seating plan whether it’s the newer Business Class with the door or not so unsure why there’s an inability to select seats yet. Hope it’s like that for everyone and I don’t have to take the seats next to the toilets!

    We booked LHR to SJO via MAD on a redemption for 2 Feb 26, return 12 Feb 26. Wasn’t able to reserve seats until about 330 days prior to departure. Same c. 330 days for the return leg.

    I found that the Iberia site / app wasn’t very good and our reserved seats kept getting released – use the Royal Air Maroc site with the BA 6 character booking reference as that was less glitchy than the Iberia site and the reservation has not been released.

    We have a reward flight on Iberia booked, flying in June to BOG.

    Iberia site currently says: We can’t resolve the incident with your flights from Booking management.

    None of the Iberia.com platforms were used to purchase or issue the tickets. Please manage this incident through the platform where you purchased your ticket.

    And BA won’t let me choose a seat either. Very frustrating. BA site also says the business class seat for the long haul flight cannot be chosen until check in.

    Any suggestions?

    We also had the same issue with a BA Avios booking for flights to BOG, booked last month for over the coming new year. Neither booking reference worked on any of the websites, so called Iberia and after alot of typing and being put on hold twice was allocated seats with a confirmation email received immediately. Agent was helpful and understood immediately, I don’t think it’s an unusual occurrence.

    I did only wait a couple of days though, then just called before forgetting.

    Anyone have any ideas on whether Row 1 has a bassinet attached on the A330? We have booked J tickets for next year to Tokyo, from Porto via Madrid, and I am expecting. Baby due in August, so ticket not booked yet. Just wondering whether to try and pounce now on that row if we can.

    OH remains BA Silver. Hoping to get his paternity extension too next year.

    Can anyone confirm their numbers they used?

    I tried to speak to 2 different people on Iberia now for my flight to Tokyo.

    I explained that I cannot select seats, I cannot view extras or modify anything – I was told seat selection goes live later. Now, they are saying that 80% of the seats or so are already taken.. when I still cannot access or select anything.

    I am then also told that Business Class on an A350 is 2-4-2 and that we are sitting next to each other in a cabin that is 1-2-1?! This is off to a great start.. anyone had similar experienced with their agents being a lot less clued in than BA?

    To add to that.. IB keeps saying the left and middle seats are full on their A350 but if I go onto MMB on Royal Jordanian the entire cabin is free to select.. what do I do / who do I believe?

    RJ seating plan is not to be trusted. What message are you getting when you try to select seats? IB app or website?

    When I started booking IB flights last year, seats started appearing to select around 10/11 months out, I was BA Silver but I was being asked to pay. I tried all the tips here to resolve it but nothing worked. Then weirdly, when I went up to Gold in October, suddenly I could select seats for free on Iberia – no idea why it changed then!
