Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Special order meals club europe

First time flying British Airways Club Europe tomorrow, and I have a special vegan meal ordered. Should I keep my expectations low when it comes to the vegan meal, or is there a chance it will be a decent experience

I too was a Club first timer a few months ago. I’m not vegan, but I would tend to hedge my bets. Try and get in the lounge before check-in and grab something suitable. On-board, I think of it as a top-up to the lounge.

What time is the flight? I had a delicious salad with roasted courgette and baby carrot recently (I’m not veggie but try and eat actual vegetables whenever possible!) at lunchtime, although it didn’t really fill me up. The bread rolls are pretty good these days – but they normally give out butter with them, though one would assume non-dairy spreads might also be available. I like the mini olive oils you get on some airlines, but I’ve never seen these in CE, sadly.

It’s an evening flight back to LHR from France

It might be something a bit more substantial then, though I suppose you’re not guaranteed it’s going to be something you actually like! I’ve only been in a few French lounges but they seem rather meat and cheese-heavy in what they offer! You might get pasta with tomato sauce if you’re lucky. But then you might get it twice!

You might want to have a look at the Flyertalk forums – they usually have lots of detail on F & B offerings.

I’m vegan and always order a special meal on Club.

I never rely on it, and always have some food in the BA lounge. I’d say BA fails to load my food onboard one in 5-6 times.

Often time the food is good (enough).

Never got to experience the special meal as my flight was cancelled

An agent agreed to reroute me with LH but he royally screwed it up.

Not ideal, how did they screw it up & did you manage to get sorted in the end?

One point , if you have a special meal as your standard in profile, be aware if you fly longhaul club you will never get upgraded.

I was GL level (5000+ tp a year but before GL) , I Did about 20 club longhaul a year. However on health kick decided I’d put my self down as low fat. I then noticed a couple of times lots of people be upgraded at gate to first. Phoned Christine Nicholson the then head of executive club what was going on. She said because I had special meal couldn’t be upgraded. Quick change of profile and a few pro bono upgrades. Nb that was before upgrade vouches etc.

The agreed rerouting over the phone with BA agent was to return me to LHR via FRA with Lufthansa last night. I was instructed to present myself at the Lufthansa check-in at LYS, where boarding passes would be issued. However, the Lufthansa agent informed me that I was booked on a LYS-FRA-CDG route by BA. After a frantic call to BA, I was told that they could no longer get me on FRA-LHR. I was offered the choice of staying overnight in LYS and traveling the next day or spending the night in FRA and taking the 6:40 a.m. flight to LHR. I chose the overnight stay in FRA, as I urgently needed to be in London this morning. I was advised to submit a claim for reasonable expenses for the overnight stay near FRA.
