Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Split from partner, can I transfer flight?

  • 6 posts

Booked a long haul trip on Avios last year but now the other half wants to be an ex other half and does not want to go on the trip. Just over 2 weeks to go. Booked using Avios and an Amex 2-4-1 in my name.

Google isn’t clear. Does not look like I can transfer the reservation directly but can it be done indirectly? Can I call BA and get that flight reservation cancelled and re-booked to someone else?

No, you can’t just have the name changed.

To book it for someone else would in effect be a cancel and rebook situation and this close in there is no guarantee the seats would go back into inventory.

Call BAC and talk to an agent.

Sorry to hear about this. At least award bookings have some flexibility in these situations!

According to what other people have posted here, you can have the companion taken off the booking and get half the cash back minus £35 (and presumably the voucher, if it’s still in date). Is there still any availability on your route?

You might be able to get half the avios back instead of the voucher, ie convert it into a single person use of the voucher. Don’t know if they’ll do that post booking though. Worth asking if the voucher is expiring soon.
