I have had about 110000 points stolen from my account. IHG don’t care. It’s been nearly 2 weeks now and they will simply not reply to me. Any one else had similar experience from IHG? I even emailed the CEO and again no surprise that he didn’t reply either.
Cheers Keith
Have you called?
I would be calling under these circumstances and not using emails or web forms.
Which email address did you use?
I would definitely call, though. Does it say in your account where these points were transferred to?
Presumably you’ve also changed your password by now, although I personally think a lot these incidents are inside jobs.
I haven’t called no as they promised to have sorted it within a couple of days and I have been on holiday in Las Vegas so not been in a place really to call. The points were used to book some rooms in a resort in Mexico. Whilst I am in Las Vegas!!!! The email addresses I have used have been ihgonerewards@ihg.com, ihgonerewards@ihg.pure.cloud & Elie.Maalouf@ihg.com
And still nothing received from them. Like I say, they constantly go on about loyalty but it also works both ways.
Just out of interest, how do you know about the Mexico booking? Did IHG tell you, or can you somehow see it in your account? Does your account show points being transferred to someone else?
I received text notification and so I immediately went onto the IHG website and saw that all my points had gone. What concerns me is that because I received text notifications, then my personal data maybe compromised. Not that IHG seem to care.
First stop with the snide comments about IHG. It might make you feel better but it doesn’t actually help anyone else want to help you – especially at IHG.
So when you got the text of the Mexico booking what did you do? Did you try cancelling the booking?
Were any of your other details changed? It would be strange for a hacker to change address or email account but not change the phone number,
Have you subsequently change your password?
I’m not seeing any posts here or on flyer talk that there has been any sort of mass data breach of IHG.
Just because you have a booking in Las Vegas does not stop you making a booking in another city for the same dates. IHG systems don’t sense check that sort of thing as it’s not an unusual situation for many people to be in when planning trips to have multiple bookings at different places for the same time.
Have you called IHG yet to ask what is happening?
I didn’t know there even was a text notification service from IHG. It’s still not clear whether the points were transferred to another account (in which case you would expect to be able to see this on the activity page), or the actual booking was made on the account (in which case you should be able to cancel it).
*Possibly OP means that while they have been staying in LV, someone else has stayed in MX, using their points, but again it’s not clear.
