We have flights booked to Texas in Autumn. This is a legacy (original booking pre-covid) 241 FTV manual booking made over the phone with BA in January 2022.
The outbound to Houston was originally a 787-10 with Club Suite but has now been switched to 787-9, presumably due to the 787 delay issues.
In any case we’re looking to change the outbound to EITHER fly out on the earlier (777 Club Suite) flight to Houston on the same day, or now fly out to either Austin or Dallas Fort-Worth instead.
All of these destinations are the same zone, so normally I would assume if there is Business cabin Avios availability this would be a straight swap (£35 change fee per person), HOWEVER I know BA have increased surcharges after the booking was made in both Feb and March. My question is – will we get hit with these additional surcharges now if we change the booking, even if the original booking was made prior to their introduction?

Yes, a change before travel means it’ll reprice. It’s slightly possible that in the complexity of an FTV etc you’ll somehow get away with it (friends have had various errors in their favour!) but that’ll be a nice surprise if it happens!

Thanks Sam. Ah, that’s frustrating – so theoretically if I called them up and asked to swap to the same cabin on the Houston flight earlier in the day I could be facing £150+ extra fees per person, due to the new surcharges added in Feb + March? (+£35 pp change fee as we’re outside the current BwC cut off). Ouch.
Yes you’d be on the hook for fare difference and change fees for these voluntary changes.
But I wouldn’t be changing flights just because at present the earlier one has club suites because that can soon change and possibly more than one.
