Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
Hi, I’m flying Thai in business class London to Bangkok, is it worth joining their membership club? I’m BA silver so usually go for OneWorldAlliance carriers. Thanks
I have little experience with Thai Royal Orchid Plus. It depends on how frequently going forward you plan to use *A. For me personally, I used SAS frequently for work so anything related to *A will be dumped there. I am both BA Silver and *A Gold and to me that’s the sweet spot. Lounge access for both alliances. Also SAS has rather low tax and surcharge for award redemptions albeit hard to find going east. Also point expiry within (3 to) 4 years I think.
The question should really be where to credit the miles? Unless you plan to fly them frequently.
Agree with @BBB but I wouldn’t bother with Royal Orchid even if you do plan to fly them regularly. Research which *A scheme appeals to you most then check your fare class on wheretocredit to ascertain you’ll get useful credit. Aegean is not what it once was but I still find I can get some use out of small balances there, for exaple, I recently booked Munich to Thessaloniki for 7k.
