Does Amex have a restaurant credit for all Ivy’s? I noticed Bristol and bath were on their list, but not Cardiff? Just wondering if anyone could help. Thanks
Are you referring to the Platinum Dining Credit? Yes I’ve used it there multiple times, and it shows on the list for me. Strangely, the Ivy Asia (right next door) is not on the list, but you can buy an Ivy gift card from the main Ivy, get your credit, then walk next door and spend it (or at your leisure.)
Ejhcardiff, if you download and sign up to the ivy rewards app, if you spend £100 before service charges before 15th September, you’ll get a £20 discount on your bill by showing your member number in the app.
That’s a really useful heads up, thank you!
So I went to the Ivy Cardiff and a week later, no credit so asked… It’s not on their list so they’re initially saying no, but that they will investigate if I produce a receipt. I didn’t take a receipt(!) so I will now have to contact Ivy and see if I can. This mug leg work, makes the card feel like a supermarket coupon scheme
The Ivy Cardiff is the only restaurant on the Platinum dining credit list for Cardiff.

I always take a receipt when I’m expecting a credit rebate.
Are you talking about the platinum dining credit or something else? If the former then they can see it’s on the list. Sometimes credits take more than a week too.
It’s worked for me the last two years ( it’s the only place in Wales that I can use it ).As pointed out it’s still on the list ( but the Ivy Asia isn’t ) . I’d not generally eat there as the food isn’t anything even vaguely special ( and IMHO way way overpriced for what it actually is ) and the staff can be a bit up their own backsides but it’s convenient when using the credit ( and daughter and her significant other enjoy it ..) .Credit IME has taken over a week though.

Exactly the same as Leeds then, but my Mother does like it.
@Dragonlady, therein lies the problem with the Amex Platinum Dining Credit for anyone who doesn’t regularly visit London. The Ivy isn’t close to being the best place to eat in Cardiff: Casanova, Mesen (in Rhiwbina), Asador 44, Bar 44, Pasture, even Le Monde are all much better options – and there are many more besides. I’d even prefer eat in Ffwrnes in the market.
American Express really doesn’t much like anyone who spends their time outside the M25.

I am taking notes from this valuable list 🤓
Our meal was actually really good. Decor is second to none, and the drinks are really good. Currently running a £30 3 course autumn meal with glass of English bubbly 🙂

Living in Wales but equidistant from Cardiff and Bristol, I decided to try Bristol for a change earlier this year; the ambience, food and service was much nicer…
@ejhcardiff, to be fair the ambience in the Ivy is excellent, and, when I’ve been there, the service has been friendly and attentive. Even the food isn’t terrible – it’s just a little formulaic and lacks the flair that you get from a highly skilled on-site chef who has full control of the experience.
I could have added Home by Sommerin (Penarth) and Parallel to my list, but they are in a different price league. If I had to call out Cardiff’s real stars, for me it would be Casanova and Mesen. For a simple lunch, I’d say it’s worth getting over to Penarth and visiting Griff’s tiny deli there.
