Well done VinZ.
Sorry you’ve given up YorkshireRich, hope you manage it somehow another day.
Wednesday night I started to furiosly type an expletive-filled rant about BA’s IT systems but then changed my mind and went to bed angry instead. The reason? By the time I got to the payment screen for the tickets at 01:02:00, they were gone. Hey it’s a race so I wouldn’t have been so upset if I had been given a fighting chance but – first the website stopped working at exactly 01:00:00, then the search came back with an error, then it threw me back to the main screen mid-booking because I was apparently usng multiple tabs (which I wasn’t).
Well, 24h later it all went much smoother, I was done in 50 seconds and crossing my fingers while the final screen was loading, so happy to report that return flights are secured and we can start planning. Just need half the avios refunded which we’ll sort later today. Thanks everyone for your help. I’m just hoping now that 15 full days will be enough for Japan 🙂
Hi all
So my hubby’s uni has decided to change the academic year holidays (!) so the flights that I had booked with lots of pain a few months back are completely useless.
I would like some help and possibly help you too. Do you know
1. when flights become available when we’re less than 355 days away? I know we’re talking about the Easter period, but there’s been zero movement;
2. if I release my 2x J return seats, can any of you get them? Do they become available again as avios seats or…?
Thank you
Sorry to hear that VinZ
That’s quite late notice of a holiday year change isn’t it?
That’s ridiculous, you could have wedding plans or anything! Normally unions need to be consulted on anything like this.
If you booked at T-355 the seats may well go back into the inventory.
If you used a companion voucher this may open up extra availability when you search again, especially if you’re prepared to travel from one of the regions.
But Easter (presumably) coinciding with cherry blossom season, you may be out of luck 😞
I know! Technically this is our honeymoon we couldn’t have in 2020 because of Covid. I had managed to book F avios seats back then and we went into lockdown 6 days before we were due to depart…
I wanted to call the university, but he doesn’t want me to – I think he’s scared. 🙂
Thanks for the tips btw. I have another companion voucher which I’ll use to check extra availability but what a bore, and I believe my chances are close to none. Hopefully some F class availability will pop up later on? Who knows… I’m not even sure websites such as seatspy get around sending a message as these seats are snatched within minutes!
Will let you know if I succeed!
Frankly astonished by this, and disappointed for you. Is this a UK university? The next academic year’s dates should have been fixed a year ago. And having just checked my university there are provisional dates on the website for the following SIX years. Educational establishments can’t change dates two terms away at the stop of a hat.
