I know that Top Cashback conversions are due to stop but has anyone else found that they already can’t do a transfer to Avios
P
Its stated online as end of the year but no specific date?!
Last day to convert is 15th Dec IIRC as TCB has to process all transfers by 31st.
I was getting errors trying to transfer to avios last night (08/11). Was also getting worried they’ve blocked it already, so it’s somewhat reassuring to see that others can still do it. I’ll be very annoyed if they have blocked it, I’ve got >£1k to extract before the deadline. Will try again later.
Correct me if I’m wrong here, but TCB give 1.05 Avios per penny, boosting gives between 1.04 and 1.08 if my maths is correct. As long as you are earning Avios from somewhere you can withdraw TCB as cash and boost without losing out? Obviously this will only work if you aren’t sitting on a high TCB balance, something I’ve always been wary of since the transfer bonuses disappeared.
You aren’t wrong but is potential 0.04 more worth going thru an extra stage ?
£500 of TOPcashback gets 52500 avios
£500 of boost gets an extra 2000 avios at most.
…but the 52500 generated from TCB would be eligible for a x3 boost.
An update on this. Previously I was using Firefox, and when I clicked on Payout it just gave an error: ‘The page isn’t redirecting properly.’ So this time I used Chrome in case it was a only browser issue.
Now I can go to Payout, and scroll down to Choose Payout Method where it has an alert at the top, stating ‘You have reached the maximum payout limit for one or more payout methods. Please use the ‘Withdraw part of my cashback’ option and payout your cashback separately.’ It lists options of Reward Wallet, Bank Transfer and Paypal. Under that, the option of British Airways Executive Club is both greyed and crossed out,
So, they HAVE removed the option of transferring to avios already, more than a month early. For the record, I haven’t redeemed for avios (or anything) for a couple of years, so any mention of a payout limit is nonsense. What incredibly scummy behaviour.
I just transferred out £120 to Avios a few minutes ago.
You are forgetting that there are some transactions that cannot be transferred to Avios and that has always been the case. It also changes frequently.
Thanks guys. I have zero financial-type cashback though, just the same stuff I’ve always used TCB for, which has been transferable in the past. And it seems to be a blanket block as per the text above. There’s no option to remove anything.
EDIT – Wait a minute! It might be rival airline related, had totally forgotten about those. Let me experiment, I’ll get back to you. Thanks guys! 🙂
Conversion still working for me. There are plenty of avios exclusions though – from memory I think booking com may also be one. You’ll have to experiment deselecting earnings payouts. Bold holding £1k on TCB there’s zero protection. I cashed out at COVID.
