Forums Payment cards American Express UK dining credit – gift cards

  • 25 posts

I’m unlikely to be able to use this years £150 UK dining credit – does anyone know if buying a gift card in person at The Ivy (or any other) still triggers the rebate? I know it’s been discussed before but want to check before I go and buy one!

Yes it will . We did this last year to get a Gift Card from Ivy in Leeds . It worked

Also likely to do this. Has anyone done it recently and received credit? I’m assuming it works but good to be certain.

I done it last year in Soho and got it, my son bought in Victoria and it never credited.

Just use as a real last resort though, as although better than losing out, it was only a mediocre meal when we finally used the voucher(s).

Thanks guys! Is it just the ivy that does this and not Tattu/gordon Ramsey?

I also have 20% cash back on dining on my platinum – do the offers stack? Eg: should I buy £170 voucher, does anyone know?

Should stack, because Amex will be looking for the same merchant code.

I bought a gift card at the Ivy in Canary Wharf two weeks ago and received the credit

How long does it take for the credit to appear? I dined at the Ivy on Monday 9th spending just over £150 and nothing yet.

Didn’t work for me for a Gift Card, Did work when we ate at the Restaurant, which was a bit rubbish and we wont be going back. Very few options in Leeds now.

It worked for me buying 2 x £100 gift cards in person from The Ivy Kensington last month. £150 statement credit posted nine days later.

I bought 2×100 gift cards at Ivy Manchester (with the free fizz) a couple of days ago and it’s just been credited.

It appeared today, but with the date of the 11th – so took 4 days.

Does anyone know does it have to be in person? Or can you buy the gift cards over the phone?

In person should work…over phone/online YMMV (not recommended).

Does anyone know for sure whether this works if you order a voucher remotely?

Buying from J Sheekey in London should work too, but in person not online.

Spent exactly £150 at Ivy High Street Kensington on 19 December and the credit posted 21 December. Bought a £100 gift card which triggered the Ivy sparkling wine gift and a £50 gift card with the remainder.

Planning on doing just that at The Ivy Tower Bridge tomorrow. Or at least getting a trusted friend to do it for me. With many seemingly doing this I just hope they haven’t run out of gift cards!!

As per the other answer you were given, this is for personal cards only.

Does not work. Has to be in store in one of the participating Ivys.
