Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Uncompetitive pricing

I got all excited about double tier point holidays and triple Avios for Amex payments, so decided to look for a holiday late May early June.
I also had an evoucher from the deal on converting avios at 2p each last year.

I eventually settled on Kefalonia departing 31 May-scanned the BA flight + Hotel deals but couldn’t find a hotel I liked, so thought I might go flight only and do an AirBnb.

My local airport is BHX, but I’m quite happy driving to LHR as it’s an easy 90 minute trip.

Thought I would check local flight only prices too, surprising results. All based on 2 people, two checked bags and two selected seats each way (apart from BA where I’m silver so should probs be zero).

    Tui departing 31/5 £848 (BHX-EFL)
    Jet2 departing 1/6 £598 (BHX-EFL)
    BA departing 31/5 £1347 (LHR-EFL)

Unbelievable gap you would need a lot of tier points and triple avios to pay for that! So the evoucher will have to wait for another day.

End of May will be very inflated due to half term and Queen’s Jubilee – have you looked outside these dates? BA pricing might become a bit more competitive.

I used the BA holiday finder and that was the cheapest date around that time. Earlier or later were even more expensive. I think it’s in the middle of the half-term/jubilee, so people will have already gone by then.
