Upgrade voucher on KLM and VS ?

I just booked AMS to LHR to HKG in Business and Upper class with KLM and Virgin because taxes were £215 versus £580 from London to HKG . Yes i paid 8,000 more points from AMS than from London
I forgot that i had an upgrade voucher on file . Does anyone know if i could have used my upgrade voucher on this route to secure me business/UC by paying premium economy rates ? There is availability showing on the VS website for all classes on both airlines.
I spent 45 mins waiting VS to pick up the phone so keen to avoid a repeat !

If both flights are operated as VS codeshares, then it should work, but you’ll have to call. If only one of the flights is, you can use it, but of course you’ll be paying for Upper/Business on the other flight yourself.
