Upgrading a miles and more award ticket

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of upgrading a ticket booked using Miles and More miles. The ticket was originally booked in economy as I didn’t have enough miles for business. I’ve now got enough miles and there’s still business availability. I can’t book an award upgrade online so I assume I’d have to call. Does anyone know if this would be subject to the €50 cancellation fee or whether it can just be handled as an upgrade?

Cancel and rebook online? I’ve been able to do that before. Miles come back immediately and surcharges and taxes minus cancellation fee a week or so later.
