IHG frequently run special offers for purchasers, e.g. get 100% extra free points when purchasing more than xx points.
These are sold in USD but the exchange rate is not stipulated so you cannot find it out until after you have purchased.
With the dollar so low, have IHG adjusted the rate? This would make this promotion even more worthwhile for UK members.
Surely it’s not IHG that sets the USD/GBP exchange rate, but the credit/debit card company when it charges your account? Or have I misread your post?

The card scheme rates never really went above 1.29 despite the interbank rate nearly reaching 1.32.
You might have got 1.31 with the currensea Pro card if you spent when the interbank rate was 1.32. (Note that the Hilton Gold currensea card uses a worse exchange rate – the same as the currensea Basic – and the Hilton Silver currensea even worse.)
