Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Use Royal Jordanian status and earn BA Avios?

Hello there. Looking for some advice… my BA Silver is coming to an end in a couple of weeks so I status-matched to Royal Jordanian Gold Sparrow. Going forward, how can I use the RJ Gold Sparrow status to access early seat selection and extra luggage, while earning BA Avios from the flight? (I’m based in London so BA Avios is all I care about). Thank you!

As I understand it – you can’t easily unless you muck around with the booking e.g. book your flight using RJ Frequent Flyer number then once you’ve gone through security and are sitting quietly in the lounge, change the FF number to your BA one. Then, once you go through the gate, you’ll be credited with Avios as this is where the trigger for Avios is.

If this doesn’t work – you’ll still get your Royal Jordanian points 🙂

I’ve never tried this though, but others may comment further.

Thanks vzzbuckz, very helpful. I’ve done some additional googling and indeed this seems to be the best way to achieve my goal. Thanks!

You can change it whenever you like, as many times as you like! Just need to remember to do it, to do it at the right moment on each occasion and to make sure the change has stuck. It is going to get a bit messy with some flights inevitably getting credit to the wrong scheme which can be a devil to undo.

It seems Royal Air Maroc is easiest oneworld site to use to access your booking and change your FF number over and back.

Struggling on the Royal Air Maroc site to get it to recognise my BA booking.

“The system is unable to retrieve this trip, please contact your Travel Support Desk if further details are needed“

Any bright ideas? Details work fine on the BA site.
