    Hi

    Couple of questions

If I use avios to book reward seats on QF in Oz

Syd-Mel and Mel-Bne does the economy tickets come with free baggage and also free seat assignment

Also if I use points for business do you get QF lounge access for domestic flights and has Anyone experienced the seat / service in business on a domestic flight ? Think they use 737

    Thanks

Yes, Qantas domestic economy tickets, whether booked with Avios or cash, include both free baggage and seat assignments. Baggage is 23kg per person, higher if you have BA status.

Lounge access is also independent of whether you book using Avios or cash. You will get access to the Qantas Business lounges in SYD and MEL if you fly in business or have BA Gold. BA Silver would give you access to the Qantas Club lounge. The Busness lounge in SYD is nothing to write home about, but the one in MEL is probably better than the Qantas Club, not least because it has windows for natural light.

It is definitely worth trying Qantas business class, especially on the MEL – BNE route. It can be one of the better uses of Avios if you have enough to spare. It is a completely different experience to economy, quite unlike BA’s Club Europe. A small cabin with comfortable seats, good service, usually decent food and really good Australian wine (as long as it is the right time of day).

Here is the QF baggage link for domestic flights. Check the section for oneworld members if you have BA status. Even BA Bronze (Ruby) gives you a higher allowance.

Sorry, I’ve just checked that link again. You would need BA Silver for an extra baggage allowance with Qantas, not BA Bronze.
