Using evoucher to buy cash flights then upgrade with avios?

Hi all,

I have a evoucher from a cash flight which I am struggling to use, and Sept 2023 is not nearly as far away as it used to be.

I know you can’t use them on a redemption flight but does anyone know if I can purchase a cash flight with the voucher then upgrade with avios after? If so I think the flight needs to be a certain type, how can I make sure I buy one that is upgradable?

Should work fine for a vouchered booking to be subsequently upgraded.

To check the booking class, click on the flight number during the booking process – I think it’s called selling class.

Should be fine, BA treats evouchers as cash.

The lowest ET / WT fares (selling class Q, O and G) can’t be upgraded. If you click the flight number you’ll be able to see it.

You’ve got 24hrs to cancel a flight booking so if there is any problem with the upgrade you can do that
