Hello all,
Has anyone used the overseas platinum dining credit in Vancouver? I am looking for a recommendation as we will be visiting the city for the first time, enroute to and back from a cruise.
I was thinking to combine a stay at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia via Amex FHR with a meal at the Hawksworth restaurant (on site) but could also use the credit at one of the following:
Anna Lena
Black and Blue
Blue water Cafe
Boulevard Kitchen
Cardero’s
CinCin
Cioppinos
Coast
Elisa
Giardino
Global
Joe Forte
L’Abbatoir
Miku
Minami
Nightingale
Osteria Savio Volpe
The Victor
Vij’s
Any views from those who have visited would be v welcome!
Many thanks
BattMatch
We visited and enjoyed Cardero’s last year (unfortunately just a few days before Amex launched the dining credit). Nice location on the water and easily accesible via the footpath that goes from the convention centre/ cruise terminal all the way to Stanley Park.
I’ve booked Coast for 29th May. I’ll report back if you’re in Vancouver after that date.
Thank you both for the replies.
@gillydee we are traveling in mid July so a big ‘yes please’ to your take on Coast!

As promised a quick review of Coast.
Started off well, went downhill. Service was friendly, nice cocktail (Citrus Bonsai) arrives, order taken, wine chosen, then the adjacent table was much more interesting to the server and our appetisers arrived but the wine didn’t materialise for another 15 minutes.
Cooked fish was very good – fish & chip cones, beautifully cooked scallops, crispy calamari. The sushi tile for 2 was awful; I expected it to taste fresh but everything was just tired and mushy. It was a bit too “room temperature” for me.
1 cocktail, 1 beer, 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, 2 appetisers, 1 main and the sushi tile + tip – 261 Can dollars.
Amex credit posted 2 days later
I was in Vancouver earlier this year and Blue Water Cafe was one of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory – worth every penny for great food and the best service, so I’d highly recommend that.
Anna Lena I don’t think was as good as a lot of 1* restaurants here in London.
I personally used the credit at Minami but that was a regular old sushi restaurant – nothing special.
Thank you both @gillydee and @lilyjaneee – I really appreciate you taking the time to follow up.
Current plan is to try Miku, a sushi (ish) place on the waterfront on our first night of the trip. Reviews look good, it is right next to our hotel (Fairmont Waterfront) and we will be heading off on a cruise the next day.
We will likely try the Rosewood Hawksworth using the FHR credit post cruise. The Blue Water Cafe looks v much my kind of thing so we will probably just splash out for that!
